I need to wear glasses for everything (can hardly see a thing without
them), so I'm interested to know what other 4-eye'd skiers do for eye
protection. I've got a pair of goggles made for wearing over specs,
and although these work well I prefer not to wear goggles when weather
permits, which is most of the time
when I ski here in Australia.
For the last few years I've tried clip-on sunglasses, but I'm not very
satisfied with them. They're fiddly to take on and off (especially
with gloves on) and they seem to capture a lot of condensation between
my regular glasses and the clip-on lenses. It usually seems to me like
I'm in a heavy fog, or once the moisture builds up more its as if I'm
looking through a fish bowl.
Does anyone who normally skis with glasses have suggestions on any of
the following:
1) What's the best option for eye protection when goggles aren't
called for? I can't wear contacts any
more.
2) Is it worth having prescription sunglasses made up? It's expensive
and the optometrist can't put lenses of the thickness I require into
wrap-around frames, so I might not have my eyes completely shielded
from glare.
3) Am I likely to encounter much weather where sunglasses would be
enough during the period mid February
to late March at Blackcomb?
Thanks,
