There are lots of choices. One is the North American Telemark

Organization, based in Vermont: 1-800-496-5124. NATO has courses in many

areas.

Adventures to the Edge is a relatively new outfit that I can vouch for (as

if you knew me from a hole in the wall). It's based in Crested Butte,

Colo.: 1-800-349-5219.

Both of these assume your friend wants to power his own way up the hill.

And there are many more organizations, too.

If your friend's looking at helicopter or snowcat skiing, the choices

multiply. For instance, there's CMH and Mike Weigele in Canada, and

snowcat operations at many Rocky Mountain ski resorts.
